Millicent Flagg Allingham
Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada - Millicent "Millie" Allingham, of Welshpool, Campobello Island, N.B., passed away at the Charlotte county Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Oct. 10, 1998. she was born Jan. 3, 1904, to William B. and Edith (Newman) Lank.
She will be sadly missed by one son, Cleveland Newman and Natalie of Lynn, Mass.; four daughters, Irene (Newman) Brown of Wilsons Beach, Campobello, Dawn Newman of St. Stephen, Margaret (Allingham) Cole and Bob, both of Brower, and Marie Allingham Howland of Trescott,; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one Great-great-grandson, two nieces and one nephew; one sister, Mrs. Gwendolyn Somers and Phil of Falls Church, Va. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Summer "Sud" Newman, her second husband, Robert Allingham, one brother, Burnham Lank and one son-in-law, Elwin Brown, all of Campobello.
Millie was an active member of the St. Anne's Anglican Church, past president of the Altar Guild, sang in the choir, baked for food sales, was an avid quilt maker and a hostess to many quilting parties up until the past few years. She worked 19 years for the Adams' family summer residence, as well as filling in when needed, for the President Roosevelt Family. She had a great interest in life and in all generations. She cared deeply for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and played an active part in their daily lives until the very end.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct 17, 1998, at the St. Anne's Anglican Church, Welshpool, Campobello island, with the Rev. R. Farris officiating. Interment will be at Welshpool Cemetery. MacDonald Funeral Home, 20 Marks St., St. Stephen, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the Family would appreciate donations given to St. Ann's Anglican Church, care of Lee Newman, Treasurer, Wilsons Beach, Campobello island or a charity of your choice.
