MARRIAGE:::::::::::::::::: Christopher Carey + Falby Edmonds (the widow of John Edmonds) 14 March 1847 Jefferson Co,TN.
    BONDSMAN: WILLIAM CHAMBERS (which one?)

She was incorrectly indexed in 1850 census as Phoebe. There's definitely an "L" in her name on the 1850 sheet.

1850: indexed as CARY Jefferson, Tennessee living in the household of Jonathan ELLISON
JUST ABOVE THIS HOUSEHOLD ARE PHALBY'S PARENTS:
    Jonathan 61 NC
    Rachel 66 SC
(see the BAKER family above them--Josephine (who marries Theodrick Edmonds and Margaret who is living with them in the 1860 who possibly marries in Jefferson Co.)

    THEN COMES ............................
    Christoper Cary 22 KY
Pheobe Cary 29 <(1821> (cannot read and write) Phalbe/Phalby/Falby ELLISON conf by Jonathan Ellison's will)
John Cary 8 (John Edmonds from her first marriage)
Jonathan Cary 10 (Jonathan Edmonds from her first marriage)
    Matilda C Cary 1
    Rachel Cary 2

    NEXT DOOR IS ...............................

    William ELLISON 27
    Sally 27
    Benjamin 6
    Catharine 3
Margaret Russell 3 months. WHO IS MARGARET RUSSELL BORN AROUND JULY 1850? See 1880 where their daughter Nancy married a Russell.

    1860: Jefferson 11 SEP 1860

    C Carey 34 KY
A Carey 39 NC (cannot read and write)
J Edmonds 19 male TN (this would be John since Jonathan is married to Laurinda Petty and is living above his grandfather]
    R Carey 12 female TN
    A Carey 6 female TN
    J Carey 3 male TN
    R Carey 1 female TN
ARE THESE NEXT THREE KIDS COUSINS OR SOMETHING?
--- J Carey 15 female TN (allegedly this is Rhoda Jane but where is she on the 1850?) To have been born in 1845 Christopher would have been 17) Who is the mother? Is she Christopher's YOUNGER SISTER instead of his daughter? Some suggest she might be Jane Edmonds, Falby's daughter by her first marriage, except she NEVER once in three censuses says her mother was born in NC. And everyone in town knows Falby Ellison was born in NC. == How are the next two people related to Phalby? WHERE IS RHODA JANE ON THE 1850? Where are M and HD? Together in a totally different family?)
    --- M Ellison 25 female TN
    --- H D Ellison 22 (Henry) TN

1870: Jefferson, TN (same page on the census might be some confusion)
John Edmonds 19 ((This is NOT the son of John Edmonds son of Falby Ellison. I'm putting this note here in case someone thinks it's him. He's really the son of James Campbell "Cam" Edmonds and Delila HALL.))
Mary Ann Reneau 23 John's wife ((dau of Isaac Reneau & Melissa Newman))

    TWO DOORS AWAY FROM:

    Mary 11
    William B 9
Edward 17 or 4 or something? I can't figure it out. He's either very young or not in the immediate family. Where does he go?

    NEXT HOUSE IS
EDMOND William 22 TN (William M. Edmonds, son of William C. Edmonds and Margaret Reneau)
Rebecca J. 20 TN (Rebecca Jane Moore is his first wife. She died in April 1880.)
John W. 2 (assumed to be John Wesley)
    Mary J. 3 months ("L. Vernie")

(his parents Benjamin 77 and Candes 63 are listed as Carry (page 33/38) are living just below Theodrick Edmonds and Josphine Baker and her sister Margaret)

I've got a gg-grandmother, Marey Carey b 4 April 1859 in Jefferson County Tennessee. She married James H. Ferguson in TN, and is the daughter of Christopher Carey. Marey and James had a son Elisha aka Ike.

I have in my possession a photograph labeled "Uncle Jim and Aunt Catey Carey, about 1850." They are somewhere between 40 and 60 years old, I guess, and look very grim and scottish. Aunt Catey is wearing a plaid shawl. Uncle Jim has a loooooong white beard. Who are these people??
