Note: His [Amel-Marduk's] brother-in-law, Neriglissar, overthrew him and reigned 4 years and was f ollowed by his own son Labashi-Marduk 9 months. He was unfit to rule and was overthrown b y a conspiracy who chose Nabonidus as their king. Nabonidus surrendered to Cyrus the Persia n in his 17th year. Most likely du e to his very young age, he was unfit to rule, and was murdered in a conspiracy only nine mon ths after his inauguration. Nabonidus was consequently chosen as the new king.
