yeah, i read about that.in the Cheely history book i received from my mombefore she died.
When their mother Mary Morrison Cheely passed away in her 40s, she leftyoung children includ ing my grandfather JM and his twin LM Cheely. Sothese young kids were split up and went to l ive with their brothers orsisters, except for a young sister who stayed with her dad LJ unti l heremarried.
I was puzzled as to why my grandfather JM Cheely died and was buried inMinnesota till i rea d the book a little more on Sunday and discoveredhe'd gone to live with his older brother i n St. Paul, and was then buriedin their family cemetery there rather in the South. He must no t havestayed close to his twin brother Lewis as Lewis stayed in the South, lived and was buri ed in lexington, KY ... more a mystery is that JM wasmarried to his 3rd wife. I find that ma ny of the Cheely men wereinvolved with the lumber business, hence their moving around a bit i n theSouth.
I discovered from the family history book that my granddad JM Cheelyworked in Alabama (Sullig ent, where he built a house for my grt-grandmother Lillian and their daughter Elizabeth, my m om's mother). Butbefore that he was in southern Ohio and Kentucky where he met her. Heeven wo rked in Tennessee before divorcing Lillian and eventually marryinga woman in Miami, FLA (shor t lived marraige). I have pictures of all 3wives in the Cheely history book.
He moved to Nassau, Bahamas in the lumber business apparently to escapepaying alimony to hi s ex-wife Lillian, and married an 18-yr Bahamianwoman when he was near 50, having a child t ogether. This child, nicknamed Bunny was a beauty who entered pageants in California and met a tragic early deafth there, leaving 4 children of her own by a man namedBob Krautch.
JM Cheely died in 1937 in Minnesota -- his Bahamian 3rd wife eventuallymoved to California an d died there -- i found her 1996 death informationon the Web last year. I've been trying to f ind her grandchildren there tosee if they have anything on their Cheely grandfather, but hav en't hadmuch luck finding this family.
