In 1752, a group left Germany for the new world called America. Christiana and her first husband was among the group of emigrants.

Christiana gave birth to a daughter, Nancy Agness on board the ship. Her husband died on the ship en route to America.

The group arrived in Baltimore, then to Frederick, Maryland, where they all settled.

In 1757, Christiana married Christian Lesnett who also had sailed aboard the same ship in 1752.

In 1758, in Frederick, Md., Christiana gave birth to their first child together, Frederick.

Christian Lesnett was a woodworker and cabinet maker. The family remained in Frederick until his shop burned down. They then relocated to Hagerstown, Md.

The French and Indian War began in 1754. Christian joined the rangers in Maryland in 1758. Christian was assigned to repair and defend the wagons, first at Wills Creek (Cumberland) and then at Raystown (Bedford, Pa.).

After Ft. Duquesne was deserted by the French. Gen. Forbes and Col. Bouquet occupied the site, ready to build the new Ft. Pitt. Christian was impressed with the land around the three rivers. When the sale of land was initiated by William Penn, Christian filed a claim.

Christian took out a claim in Fiatte (South Fayette Township). Christian and his two eldest sons, Frederick, and Frank, went to the site. They built a cabin, cleared and planted the land with rye, turnips and corn then Christian returned to Hagerstown for the rest of his family. The reunited family was Christian and Christiana, Frederick, Frank, Sophia, Christopher, Margaret, Christian, and Nancy Agness.

In Christian's will, he began by leaving his beloved wife one bed, 20 pounds money yearly. He left 50 pounds each to his daughters and all his land to his sons. His estate totaled $660.45.
