      Andrew Johnson

The ranks of the old settlers in this community are growing thinner every day and we mark thi s week the passing away of Andrew Johnson, who died last Monday at 2 p.m., chiefly from gradu al weakening and infirmity.

Not so many years ago, Mr. Johnson was a familiar figure here in Lindstrom, a genial and peac efulminded man with whom one could certainly strike up an interesting and very pleasant conve rsation.

Andrew Johnson was born in Wrasa (sic), Smaland, Sweden on December 26, 1835 and was thus alm ost 82 years. He emigrated from Sweden to the U.S. in 1866 and joined this colony in that yea r, settling on a 40-acre farm four miles north of Center City, where he has resided ever sinc e.

He leaves a son, Swen Johnson, of Lindstrom, and three step-children, viz., William Abrahamso n, Chas. Abrahamson of Lindstrom and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Minneapolis and Gustaf Fernlun d a brother, residing in Lindstrom.

The funeral was held this afternoon from the old Johnson home. Rev. Jno. Oslund officiating a nd interment followed later at Fairview cemetery.
