      50 YEARS AGO (1958)

      Four Everett Marines recently completed their four weeks of individual combat training at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. The were Privates Thomas B. Canonica, Theodore L. Pearson, Michael S. Murphy and Gordon W. Johnston.

      The Lions packed off the Pop Warner league football championship in this year's inaugural run of the kids grid circuit. Coached by Don Gilchrest and Bob Gaines, the team consisted of Nick Kortekaas, Mike Jelvik, Pat Crowley, Bob Hilse, Mike Gilchrest, George Clark, Eddie Gerdon, Fred Reykdal, Ozzie Dyre, Lou Bashour, Lou Stevenson, Pat Gilday, Dennis LaRoach, Bert Cronin, Dick Armstrong, Buzz Dyre, Dan Lennox, Gary Buckner, Jerry Paul, Mike Ravelle, Larry Nadeau and Mike Hart.

      25 YEARS AGO (1983)

      Colleen Hinkle of Everett was playing the title role in Western Washington University's production of the musical "Peter Pan," to be staged at the Bellingham campus the next couple of weekends.

      Tim Cranmore of Monroe, who was 10 years old, won two $10 first prizes in turkey-coloring contests at both the Snohomish and Monroe Safeway stores. He was a newly rich fifth-grader at Salem Wood Elementary School.
