Obituary. Many have been the times when the beautiful and tender lines " asleep in Jesus blessed sleep, of which none ever wake to weep", have brought peace and comfort to bereaved hearts. On February 29th the death angel visited the home of Bro. H J Brown and claimed the loving wifw and mother. Sister Brown was Miss Armanda Simonds, born December 17th, 1845, was baptised into the Mulberry Baptist Church of Abbeville, SC at age 14 years, and was married to H J Brown October 16, 1867. She has been a consistent member of the church and a noble Christian ever since, and her place in the community and the church can not be filled.

In the dear old Village Church Yard
    we see a mossy mound.
    There's where dear mamma's sleeping
in the cold and quite ground

    Gently sighs the weeping breezes,
birds are warbling sweet at dawn.
But our heart is sad and lonely
because dear mother's dead and gone.

    Yes gone, but not forgotten
    but we must submit
to Him who does all thing well.

and trust that some sweet day we shall meet this dear sister on the other shore, there to be parted no more. Oh how sweet the thought because our savior has promised a reward to those who are faithful, What better be a reward than to meet loved ones in that happy land. So cheer up Brother and cheer up Children, for the day will soon come, and let us all bear in mind and you especially that your mother is in that place of rest ever watching for the time when she can meet her dear husband and children.

Sister Brown was sick for about six months, but confined to her bed for about two or three weeks. Never in her sickness was she heard to complain, for she trusted in her Savior and was willing for his Will to be done. Oh, how sweet the death of the righteous, those who in the language of our Savior are not dead but asleep in sweet rest. So peace be to her sleeping form, and the blessing of the Lord be on the desolate home.
