    obit-Phil was well known for his exquisite flower gardens and his love for birds and the beauty of nature. He was an accomplished musician who shared his tenor voice in quartets, local choirs and his violin skills in orchestral presentations. He was instrumental in bringing electricity to the farms in these counties.
    Mennonite Weekly Review - 1-4-2001: Philip Krehbiel was born July 27,1900, in McPherson, Kan., to Peter S. and Anna (Goering) Kreh- biel. He was the oldest of seven children. He received his schooling in the McPherson and Hutchinson areas. On May 13, 1923, he was united in marriage to Alvina Kaufman. They shared 64 happy years togeth- er. Alvina died June 25, 1987. Born to this union were two sons and a daughter. After his marriage he joined Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, S.D., where he remained a faithful member for more than 75 years. Phil was well known for his ex- quisite flower gardens and his love for birds and the beauty of nature. He was an accomplished musician who shared his tenor voice in quartets, local choirs and his violin skills in orchestral pre- sentations. Phil was an original board mem- ber of Turner-Hutchinson Electric Cooperative, started in 1941, serv- ing as secretary. He was instrumen- tal in bringing electricity to the farms of those counties. In 1954 Phil and Alvina moved to Freeman, where he owned and op- erated Krehbiel Kabinetry. Phil spent the last six years of his life in the Freeman Nursing Home, where he died Nov. 27, 2000. Surviving are his children, Ray and Lillian Krehbiel of Freeman, Janis and Walter Siemens of Har- risonburg, Va., and Philip Jr. and Dagmar Krehbiel of Mountain Lake, Minn.; nine grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Parker and Lydia Mat- thews of Hutchinson, Kan.; and two brothers, Peter of North New- ton and John of Pretty Prairie, Kan .
