Egidius was a Grocer and a Saloon Owner.

He went downtown one day shortly before his 50th anniversary and had his beard shaved off. When he returned home, he rang the doorbell for his wife to answer the door and see him. He was holding up a newspaper so that she could not see his face. When he lowered the newspaper, she said "You darned old fool" and closed the door on him.

The publication itself is insignificant. It was referred to by Loretta, Florence & Irene Bucher as the "Book with Names". It is like a family bible in some respects and contains Family records of the Wenz Family. Also inside it were papers containing Family records of the Christ and Walter History. I believe that most of these papers were written by Mary Anna (Christ) Wenz and updated by her daughter, Katie Wenz Bucher.
