  • Note: Sadie also told the story of a neighbor girl, around the age of 5 that disappeared. The story goes that her mother was ironing. The girl went off on the path to her Grandmother's house - perhaps through the woods - and was never seen again. They looked for her for days. Never found a body. Gypsies were in the area and it was always suspected that she was abducted.

  • Note: Grandson, Gene Hultman said that he remembers that Grandma said she rode in covered wagon from their home near Runnells to the Iowa State Fair each year. They would stay in the camp ground near a big tree at one of the high points in the grounds. Dad said that is where they would stay also. They would leave in the morning and get there late in the afternoon. It is a 15 mile trek. She saw Annie Oaklie and other state fair events.
