    George and Margie Sherman lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where George worked for a feed company and raised thousands of turkeys on a farm south of Sioux Falls. George Sherman was killed in a car accident near Sioux Falls, SD.

    A Sioux Falls, SD salesman was killed last night on a highway near Sioux falls. George C. Sherman, territorial sales manager for Supersweet Feed Co., was killed almost instantly when his car collided with an empty semi-trailer just inside the South Dakota - Minnesota border at 1030 p.m.
    His body had to be pried from the wreckage of the car.
    Traveling west toward Sioux Falls, the victim's car hit the side of the eastbound trailer near its rear.
    The driver of the truck, Dale F. Hoffman, 26, Wilmont, Minnesota, reported to investigating officers, Highway Patrolman Maynard Gudahl and Deputy Sheriff Ron Drummond, that he saw the car coming and steered his vehicle toward the shoulder of the highway.
    The accident occurred 50 feet inside the South Dakota line.
    Mr. Sherman, who had been on a business trip since Tuesday morning, was returning to Sioux Falls, SD from Worthington, Minnesota. He had been associated with the feed business for 10 years. In addition, he operated a turkey ranch with Dick Reiner, 10 miles south of Sioux Falls for the past eight years.
    Born at Armour, SD on March 26, 1911, Mr. Sherman farmed near Armour until he joined the Honeymead Co. feed firm in 1941 as a salesman at Pipestone, Minnesota. In 1943, he was employed by the government as a civilian technician at the Naval Ammunition Depot at Hastings, Nebraska.
    He came to Sioux Falls in 1945 and became associated with Cargill, Inc., as a salesman. He returned to the Honeymead firm in 1954. It recently was purchased by the Supersweet company.
    Mr. Sherman was territorial manager of eastern South Dakota, western Minnesota and northwestern Iowa.
    He attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers.
    Survivors are his widow, the former Marjorie L. Stone, whom he married here on June 5, 1936; a son, Rodney, 17; a daughter, Margie, 11; his mother, Mrs. Frank W. Sherman, Portland, Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. C. W. Benson, Sioux Falls, SD; Mrs. Leo Tucek, Geddes, SD; Mrs. Tony Baumgart, Mitchell, SD; Mrs. Jack Panell, Milton-Freewater, Oregon; and Mrs. Orville Otto, Portland, Oregon; and six brothers, Ralph, Lead, SD; Lyle, Geddes, SD; Bert, Clark, SD; Glen, White, SD; and Elver and France, Alexandria, Minnesota. A brother, Claude, preceded him in death in 1949.
    Benz Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
