Funeral services were read Sunday at the Christ Lutheran church for William G. Schimmel, who passed away Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1950 at the age of 80 years, nine months and 15 days.
Interment was at Spencer cemetery.
William G. Schimmel was born on February 8, 1870, near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He came to South Dakota with his parents when he was 10 years old, the family settling on a farm in the Spencer vicinity.
On May 8, 1894 he married Ida Feskey of Bridgewater, SD. To their union six children were born, two of whom preceded their parents in death. Mrs. Schimmel died on May 8, 1943.
The survivors include two sons, Louis and Marvin, of Salem, SD; two daughters, Mrs. Peter Jacobsen of Salem, SD; and Mrs. Charles Samp of Dovray, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
