The coroner's jury, which met at the morgue yesterday morning to inquire into the death of Englebert Endres, of 913 Hamilton street, who was fatally injured by a fall from a Brightwood avenue car, declared employees of the company were responsible in that they had failed to close the gate on the rear platform of the car.
Testimony of a number of witnesses showed that there were about 30 persons on the rear platform of the car when Endres boarded it, just about the time it was to make a start. When the car swerved from one track to another he lost his balance and fell to the street. His head struck against the curb and his skull was fractured. Employees of the company maintained that the platform gate was closed, but other witnesses told a different story. the body was removed from the morgue yesterday to the Endres home, in Hamilton street, where funeral services will be held tomorrow morning.
