He married [contract 1 June 1498] Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Archibald Edmonstoun, of Duntreath, by Janet, daughter of Sir James Shaw, of Sauchie. WILLIAM (GRAHIAM), LORD GRAHAM [SCT], son and heir of William, 2nd LORD GRAHIAM [SCT], by Helen, daughter of William (DOUGLAS), 2nd EARL OF ANGUS [SCT], was born in 1463 or 1464, and succeeded his father in the peerage [SCT] in 1472. He sat in the Parliaments of James III, 1479-87, and supported that King against his son, fighting ex parte regis 11 June 1488 at Sauchieburn. He was, however, soon taken into favour by James IV, and sat in his first Parliament, 7 October 1488. He was created between 7 July and 20 November 1503, EARL OF MONTROSE [SCT]. He married, 1stly, 25 November parish church of Muthyll, co. Perth, Annabel, 4th daughter of John (Drummond], Lord Drummond [SCT], by Elizabeth, sister of David, DUKE OF MONTROSE [SCT], abovenamed, and daughter of Alexander (LINDSAY), 4th earl of Crawford. She was living 1492. He married, 2ndly, before 3 March 1504, Janet, daughter of Sir Archibald EDMONSTONE, of Duntreath, by janet Shaw, his wife. She died between 17 March 1504/5 and 15 April 1506. He married 3rdly, before 12 July 1509, Christian, widow of Patrick [Halyburton] Lord Dirletoun [SCT], (who died 6 Dec. 1505), and before that of Andrew Mowbray, burgess of Edinburgh, and daughter of Thomas WAWANE, of Stevinston, co. Haddington. He was slain at the battle of Flodden, 9 September 1513. Complete Peerage, 9:146.
