GEORGE (SETON), LORD SETON [SCT], 2nd but only surviving son and heir, was served heir to his father, 17 October 1513; one of the Lords to attend James V [SCT] on his visit to the South of Scotland, 27 June 1526; on the Parliament Committee pro judicibus, 13 July 1526; had a precept of remission for treasonably absenting himself from the Royal Army at Solway, 4 January 1528/9; an Extra Lord of Session, 17 November 1533; with the Scottish Army before the battle of Solway Moss, 24 November 1542; entrusted with the custody of Cardinal Beaton, January 1542/3; P.C. [SCT] 15 March 1542/3; assented to the proposed match between Queen Mary [SCT] and Prince Edward of England, 25 August 1543; was in the field against Hertford near Leith, his house at Seton being burnt by the English on their way home, May 1544; sat in Parliament [SCT] 12 December 1544; present at the battle of Ancrum Moor, February 1544/5; subscribed a "band" for a league with France against England, 26 June 1545. He married, 1stly, about 15 June 1527 (contract 10 April), Elizabeth, 1st daughter of John (HAY), 3rd LORD HAY OF YESTER [SCT], by his 1st wife, Elizabeth, sister of Archibald, 6th EARL OF ANGUS [SCT], 1st daughter of George DOUGLAS, MASTER OF ANGUS. He married, 2ndly, about February 1538/9, Marie, daughter of (----) PYERRES or PIERRES, of Le Plessis Baudoin. He died 17 July 1549, at Culross, and was buried there, but his remains were afterwards removed to the quire of Seton Church. His widow, who had come over to Scotland in the train of Mary of Lorraine, 2nd wife of James V [SCT], 1538, married, before 6 October 1554, Pierre DE CLOVIS, SEIGNEUR DE BRYANTE, who died 1570, She, who appears as Madame de Bryante among the ladies of honour of Queen Mary (SCT] 1562 and 1567, died about 1576.
