    !Sir Mathew Campbell of Loudoun, Sheriff of Ayr. He had a charter of the lands and lordship of Mauchline, and the church lands of Loudoun, 1st February 1566. He had also a charter of the lands of Loudoun Hill, 23d August 1570. Sir Mathew promoted the Reformation; but such was his sense of loyalty, that he fought on the side of Queen Mary at Langside, where he was taken prisoner.
