  • ID: I014856
  • Name: John Irvine Kidson ELGIE
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: 1858
  • Death: 1 JUL 1936
  • Burial: Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus, Ontario
  • Reference Number: 14856
  • Note: Son of William Elgie & Jane Atkinson, Jack never married and his "bach-hall" abode was a cozy rendezvous for his bachelor chums to converge upon for a few rounds of euchre, after which his card playing confrères would partake heartily of the flavorful luncheon which he dispensed. Jack had a long standing habit of registering his disgust by means of the words, "Oh Pooh", and would exhibit his exultation over another person with the interjection, "Aha Mister Man", when he considered himself to be victorious in an argument. He exercised these exclamations with such frequency that he was designated by each of these phrases on a permanent basis. [transcribed from Pillars and Patches Along The Pathway by David M. Beattie, 1984]
