  • ID: I595360
  • Name: Jesse Chatfield
  • Sex: M 1 2
  • Birth: 17 SEP 1732 in Killingworth, Middlesex, Connecticut
  • Death: 1780 in Stillwater, Saratoga, New York
  • Note:

Jesse served in both the French and Indian and the Revolutionary Wars, but
sketchy records are available for only his Revolutionary War service. It is
not known when he enlisted in Lt. Col. Van Veghten's Fourth Company of the
13th Regiment of the Albany Couny Militia, but Receipt Rolls in the National
Archives verify payment to him as a Revolutionary soldier, and family
tradition holds that he participated in the Battle of Saratoga, 7 October,
1777. There is much circumstantial evidence to support the latter, not the
least of which is the fact that much of the battle was fought on the farm of
    his son Asa.
